About my disability

Please keep in mind that I am not a baby anymore. I am an adult. I understand you instantly, unless you don’t speak English :), but it takes time for me to formulate my thoughts. I was born in MA. My parents didn’t know that I had a disability until after birth when they told my parents to schedule a speech evaluation. I had to learn head switches and low tech communication. My parents fought so hard with the school systems to make them understand that I am different, and I needed physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and  people familiar with technology. In my lifetime, the best school I ever attended was High School. They were understanding about my Individualized Education Plan, IEP. In high school, I took three to four classes per year until I reached age 21. Then I graduated with a high school diploma. After high school, I enrolled into the DDD program, where I hired my tutors, my therapists, my conversation partners and other services. It took a while for my parents and I to understand the rules. Since then, I’ve hired a lot of people and I continue to hire people for any available positions.
